Lauren Anker, PhD
Mental Illness Research and Treatment (MIRT) Postdoctoral Fellow
 

Dr. Anker worked with Dr. Gould on two projects as a study assessor completing structured clinical interviews in two intervention trials. Dr. Anker completed her Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Sierra Pacific MIRECC at VA Palo Alto Health Care System and the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University School of Medicine. Dr. Anker served as the Junior Associate Director of the VA Advanced Fellowship Program in Mental Illness Research and Treatment. Dr. Anker received her Ph.D in Clinical Psychology from CSPP in San Francisco. Her research and clinical focus is in neuropsychology, aging with serious mental illness (SMI) or a developmental disorder, and sleep.

Flora Ma
PAU Graduate Student & Pre-Doctoral Intern


 Dr. Flora Ma worked with Dr. Gould during her doctoral studies at Palo Alto University. She contributed to the development of patient education materials and programs focused on technological applications in psychological interventions among the geriatric population. Dr. Ma  completed her pre-doctoral internship at George Fox University, followed by a fellowship in New York. She is currently on faculty at Stanford University School of Medicine as a Clinical Assistant Professor and psychologist on the inpatient psychiatry unit.  Dr. Ma’s research interests lie in the intersections of culture and technology within the geriatric population. Her long-term aspiration is to promote interdisciplinary care models to change the paradigm of psychological care accessibility with technological innovation to underserved populations and in countries with less developed psychology programs at an international level. She enjoys traveling and eating desserts.

Christine Juang, Ph.D.
VA Palo Alto Health Care System, Geropsychology Postdoctoral Fellow

 Christine Juang received her Ph.D. in Clinical Science from the University of Southern California. She completed her pre-doctoral internship (Clinical Geropsychology Track) and Psychology Postdoctoral Fellowship at the VA Palo Alto Health Care System. Dr. Juang is a Clinical Assistant Professor at Stanford University School of Medicine in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences.

Ana Jessica (AJ) Alfaro, Psy.D.
Geriatric Research & Clinical Center (GRECC) Postdoctoral Fellow
 
AJ Alfaro is a Research Fellow in the Advanced Fellowship Program in Geriatrics at VA Palo Alto Healthcare System’s GRECC and a Postdoctoral Scholar (affiliated) at the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University School of Medicine. She works on several research and clinical demonstration projects in the Gould Lab, including BREATHE and Geri-Mobile Health. Dr. Alfaro completed her pre-doctoral psychology internship at the VA Palo Alto Healthcare System as a Geropsychology Intern and received her Psy.D. from Nova Southeastern University. Her professional and research interests include public policy related to increasing access to and quality of mental health services for aging Veterans and leveraging technology to deliver evidence-based mental health assessments and interventions to older adults.

Aimee Marie L. Zapata Ph.D.

Postdoctoral Fellow at Kaiser. 

Dr. Zapata worked as a study coordinator on a VA Rehabilitation and Research Development grant during her doctoral training at Palo Alto University. She completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Kaiser Permanente in San Jose. ResearchGate
